I’ve noticed while using Flashlight that if you type an apostrophe (which is rendered as a non-curly single prime mark directly from the keyboard) anywhere in the Description area for any image in a gallery, the description text will be truncated from that apostrophe onward in the popup slideshow box! The description text is not truncated in the regular gallery page display, however….
I’m guessing that the single-prime mark interferes with the PHP string that is passed for the Description field causing the rest of the text to be ignored?…..
I have tested it, and if you take the time to enter the Alt codes for ‘real’ curly quotes anytime you need an apostrophe, the problem is fixed. Double-quotes that are rendered as double-primes when typed directly from the keyboard do not cause the truncation…
You should probably enter the Alt codes for real typography anyway for quality’s sake, but when working on large numbers of images, it’s just very time-consuming…..
Yes, unfortunately this is a wordpress limitation: http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/apostrophes-not-being-escaped-in-lightbox-title-or-description
You can try to escape the quote with a backslash:
