    I read that I need to create a different image if I want to be able to have control over the crop of the thumbnail. But when I upload it, and roll over the image, it jumps around when going from black and white to color, indicating that something is not the correct size. I am using 450px wide by 335px tall. What size should I be using for the thumbnail?

    Hi joschro,

    Can you post a link to your site? so we can check it further. You may also want to check functions.php as image sizes are set there, find this code block:

    $avia_config['imgSize']['widget'] 			 	= array('width'=>36,  'height'=>36 );						// small preview pics eg sidebar news
    $avia_config['imgSize']['post-format-image'] = array('width'=>630, 'height'=>999, 'crop'=>false); // big images for post format image and gallery posts
    $avia_config['imgSize']['fullsize'] = array('width'=>930, 'height'=>930, 'crop'=>false); // big images for lightbox and portfolio single entries
    $avia_config['imgSize']['featured'] = array('width'=>930, 'height'=>340); // images for fullsize pages and fullsize slider
    $avia_config['imgSize']['portfolio'] = array('width'=>465, 'height'=>346); // images for portfolio entries (2,3,4 column)
    $avia_config['imgSize']['logo'] = array('width'=>465, 'height'=>220); // images for dynamic logo/partner element

    Thank you. I went into functions.php, changed the size of the thumbnail, and now it works. I have another question. How do I make a page link to a certain category of my portfolio? So, when I click the drop down option in the menu for Photography, I want it to go to the screen with the Photography portfolio items. (Right now I am working locally so I can’t provide a link to the site.)

    Hi joschro,

    Just go to Appearance > Menus. Since Portfolio Categories don’t show up in the list of categories that can be used for menu, we can use Custom Links. Refer to the screenshot: http://snag.gy/rJDRH.jpg

    Just fill the URL and label and click add to Menu. Hope this helps. :)

    Thank you for your reply. I have another question. Some of my portfolio items have multiple images I have added to the slideshow. When I select an item, the circles (one solid and the rest empty), appear in the upper left of the image. On some images the circles are covering part of the content. Is there a way to move the circles above the images?

    Hi joschro,

    Try adding the following CSS to your Quick CSS (located under the Styling Tab in the theme options) or the custom.css file in the css folder of your theme files:

    #top .slideshow li {
    top: 15px;
    }
    #top div .slide_controls {
    top: 0px;
    }

    The slideshow items have to be pushed down so that the controls don’t cover anything.

    If you have any other questions, just make a new topic and we’ll see what we can do :)

    Regards,

    Devin

    It looks like that code applies to the thumbnails, and not the larger images. Is there another way I can fix this, and can you tell me what those white and yellow circles in the upper left of the larger images are called in the code?

    #108951

    That should apply to all instances of the slideshow. Can you link to your site with the code live as it worked on my live test installation.

    The circles are inside the .numeric_controls.slide_controls div if you are looking at the code live.

    Thanks for your response. I’m working locally, so is there a way for me to send a link so you can see my site? I’d like to move the yellow/white circles up above the slideshow images, and move the images down a bit so it’s not so tight between the categories (All / category 1 / category 2 / category 3) and the top of the image. I tried applying the code above into the custom.css file, but that actually moved the thumbnails down, so it gave a white space above those images, which I did not want.

    Unfortunately the circles/arrows are inside the image container so the only way to move them above is to first move the images down. Thats why I wrote the css like that.

    Its kind of an either or situation where you can either have the extra whitespace or you can have the arrow/circle navigation float on top of the image content.

    That is unfortunate. If I do decide to have the extra white space on the thumbnails, and use that bit of code that you provided, the actual images within the slideshow do not go down like they should. What happens is that they jump down for a second, then they jump right back up. So then the little circles are still covering the images, and I also have extra white space on the thumbnails.

    What I’d like to do is remove those circles from the image container, so then they can be separate from and above the images. (I don’t mind the little arrows in the top right.) How can I do this?

    Try the following, its I think the best that can be done. It may still need adjustment for cross browser and responsiveness but in general it should work:

    #top .inner_slide .slideshow_container {
    padding-top: 25px;
    }
    #top.single-portfolio .entry-content .slideshow_container {
    padding-top: 25px;
    }
    #top div .slide_controls {
    top: 0px;
    }

    #108956

    That is very good. Thank you!

    Hi joschro,

    Glad that Devin helped you. :)
