I just installed Habitat and am playing around with aviaslider on a static homepage. But the slider is freezing the browser. Is there a way I can modify the scripts to make it work?

I've read past threads where the problem was attributed to a host disabling "loopback connections," but I really can't find a reference to this anywhere else online. I've never had trouble running jquery stuff before and I don't see why this would be any different. Can someone please explain this in a little more depth.
Would it help to point the call for jquery to Google?
