Hi, I had the newslide up and all was working fine. I swithed it to the Avia slider and the site would take forever to load and wouldnt function properly. I asked my host about it and they said it looked like a theme problem and told me the following:
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home1/fivoneg2/public_html/wp-content/themes/cleancut/index.php on line 82
I have no idea however what this means or how to correct it…can you please help? Thanks!December 9, 2011 at 7:55 am #58108
please try to upload all theme files again – this should correct the error. If this doesn’t help try to deactivate all plugins – maybe one causes this error.December 9, 2011 at 6:39 pm #58109
Uploaded all theme files…didnt work. I have now removed all plugins. It still keeps popping up the following message: ” A script on this page is causing your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive”…..Which it then does!
Can you please look at it…diagnose it? I need to have this site done by tomorrow! Thanks flipcatz.comDecember 10, 2011 at 10:14 am #58110
I think the problem is that too many (unnecessary) scripts load in the background – I made a screenshot of the report:
The most important issue is that you load jquery twice (first the new version which is part of the theme/wordpress and then an old version from google api. This very likely causes conflicts. I’d also reduce the number of stats scripts (wordpress jetpack) – you already use google analytics….it doesn’t make much sense to monitor everything several times especially because it increases the page loading time…December 10, 2011 at 5:09 pm #58111
I’m sorry I am very much a newbie. I removed all plugins, and it still shuts down once i put the slider up. I reinstalled jetpack because I want a blog subscription button and I had the problem before jetpack. Really need to get this working. I adjusted the header size….could I have messed up something there that would be affecting the slider?
I get the following when I log on:
Webpage error details
Message: ‘plot.plugins’ is null or not an object
Code: 0December 10, 2011 at 7:26 pm #58112
just an aside, once your page is up an ready to go, get the WP super-cache plugin, it turns all your pages into HTML and reduces the overall loading time of your pages significantly. JUst remember when you make changes (after the plugin is activated) that you either need to delete the cache (it makes a new one) or wait a few mintues for the site to automatically refresh. seriously it’s a great plugin and we use if for all of our slow loading sites.December 11, 2011 at 8:18 am #58113
The slider/website loads flawlessly now – the page loading time is around 3-4 seconds. If the problem persits for you please try to clear the browser cache – maybe some leftovers cause the conflict.December 12, 2011 at 2:54 am #58114
