    Hi there,

    My homepage slider suddenly stopped working. The first image appears and just stays there static.
    When you click on the arrows, the slides will not advance either.

    The only way to see the slider images is to click on the main image, then you can scroll through them.

    Could you help me figure out what happened?

    Thank you,
    Kate Scott

    Hi sydison!

    You are currently using an older version of the theme. Please update Flagship theme to the latest version 1.7.1 via FTP – http://vimeo.com/67209750

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    Thank you. Is there any way I can get an email reminder when the theme needs updating as my dashboard didn’t show anything, nor did theme forest send me anything about the update.

    Kate

    Hey Kate!

    Themeforest doesn’t have that feature as far as i know, one thing you can do though is follow Kriesi in twitter/facebook.

    Best regards,

    Okay, I did the update, but now my home slider is gone completely (background image plus the four images that slide across it), and the image on my Contact page is also gone.
    Those images are still in the media library, so I’m not sure why they are not displaying.

    Kate

    #273455

    Actually, the little images that slide across are still there, but the larger image that goes behind them is not. And contact page image also not displaying.

    #273674

    Hi!

    Thank you for the update.

    The slider on the homepage is working properly. I can see 4 slides but the contact page slider is missing. Have you tried removing then uploading the header image background again?

    Regards,
    Ismael

    #273680

    The slider on the home page is supposed to have a large image in the background that doesn’t change. Then the 4 other images slide across it. So that back image that is not displaying is called “homePageImage”. I tried deleting it and replacing it but that didn’t work.

    On the contact page, I guess I used a slider so that the format would match the homepage but in that case, it’s just a single image, and it also won’t display. The image is called “southBayBeach.jpg”.

    I’m wondering what it is about the new theme update that is causing this.

    Hey!

    Thank you for the info.

    I can see it now. I’m really not sure why the slider background is not working. Please post the login details here and set it as a private reply. We would like to check it.

    Regards,
    Ismael

    Hey there,
    Just checking in to see if anyone was able to sleuth this problem.

    Thank you kindly,

    Hey!

    When you did the theme update, did you re-upload over FTP or through the WordPress admin? Have you at any time tried deactivating all active plugins you are running and see if that helps?

    I tried things out and there is some definite oddness with how the theme is supposed to work on your server vs how its working on my dev server which is a clean install.

    Best regards,
    Devin

    #275472

    I did the ftp update. I have not tried deactivating plugins yet but I will try that.
    Though everything was find until the update.

    #275654

    Try deactivating all plugins and then do a re-upload over FTP. Just make sure that there are no errors with anything getting written over and that plugins are deactivated while uploading. That way we can rule out any kind of hidden conflict with a plugin preventing the update/files getting updated.

    #276088

    Okay, I just deactivated all plug ins, and re-uploaded over FTP. No change. I still have all my plug-ins deactivated. What’s the next step?

    #276091

    My husband tells me that the slider hasn’t been working for quite some time, so it would seem that it is not the latest update that caused the problem. It was however functioning well when we first purchased the theme and launched the original site about 2 years ago. I think that this is the first theme update we have done since we purchased the theme. We have however done wordpress updates during that time.

    Just so you know, I also tried deleting the slideshow altogether and rebuilding it but that didn’t work. I removed the images from my media library and reimported them. I also tried different settings in the dynamic template portion but again, no luck.

    Not sure if any of this information helps you to find the source of the problem or not.

    Oh, and one more clue for you. When it first stopped working, the background image was there, but the smaller images that slide across it weren’t moving, so only the first image appeared there static.

    Hey!

    Thank you for the info.

    Maybe, the custom background image is not saved properly on the database. If you can give us the cpanel, ftp and wp dashboard login details, we would like to check the database. If you’re not comfortable handing out those login credentials, just login to the phpMyadmin panel then look for the website’s database. Open the wp_postmeta table then click Search. On the columns > post_id, search for 395 then click Go. This is the post id of the Home page. After that look for _avia_elements_theme_compatibility_mode meta_key. Check if the bg_image_custom key has the correct background image URI: http://sydison.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/homePageImage1.jpg

    Hi!

    It seems like the database/sql server is down – I get an error message “Error establishing a database connection” when I try to access the website: http://sydison.com/

    Regards,
    Peter

    I noticed that as well. I’m hoping that it wasn’t something that I did. I did go in and tried to do what you said, but as soon as I got in there and realized I didn’t understand I logged out. Could I have clicked on something that I shouldn’t have?

    #276624

    The site is back up now, (new password issues – go figure ;)
    Continued help for the banner issue would be fantastic, Thank you

    #276855

    Hey!

    Thank you for the info.

    Regretfully, I still can’t figure out the issue, the value on _avia_elements_theme_compatibility_mode and _avia_elements_avia_options_flagship seems to be correct. Bad thing is, we can’t reproduce this on our end. It’s working fine on WP 3.9 and Flagship 1.7.1. We will report the problem to Kriesi. Let’s hope that he can debug the issue with all the login credentials that you have provided for us. For a temporary solution, please add this on Quick CSS or custom.css:

    .page-id-395 div#apply_header_bg {
    background: url('http://sydison.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/homePageImage1.jpg');
    }

    .page-id-86 div#apply_header_bg {
    background: url('http://sydison.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/southBayBeach.jpg');
    }

    Another thing, the image http://sydison.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/southBayBeach.jpg is removed from the media library. It doesn’t exist anymore.

    Regards,
    Ismael

    #276869

    Sorry, about that. I forgot to put the beach image back but it’s in the media library now.

    I put that css into the custom.css but it didn’t seem to make any difference.

    Thank you for continued support with this.

    Hey!

    I fixed the slider and it seems to work just fine now: http://sydison.com/ – the background image works and the slides also switch when I click the next/prev slider buttons.

    Regards,
    Peter

    I see that the background image is now there, which is great, however now there are new issues:
    – the brown background is now gone from all pages
    – all the link colors have changed from the brown and orange scheme that I had set
    – the background image on the contact page (southBayBeach) is still missing
    Is that something that I will be able to fix?

    Kate

    #277347

    Hi!

    Thank you for the info.

    Glad Peter fixed it but I’m not sure how he did it. Let me ask him and Kriesi to check this thread again.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    I hate to say it, but yes, I think it’s time to bring in the big guy and figure this thing out. I’m feeling pretty hopeless right now.

    Kate

    #277393

    Hey!

    1) Please clear your browser cache – the brown background and link colors, etc. work fine for me.

    2) The contact form page image doesn’t show up because the image url isn’t valid. Please change the url here: http://sydison.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=86&action=edit . The current image http://sydison.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/southBayBeach.jpg doesn’t exists on your server.

    Best regards,
    Peter

    #277395

    Hi!

    I checked the site again and the styling is back including the brown background on all pages. Regarding the Contact Us page background, I set it again but the code that I suggested above is breaking the default background image style. Please remove these codes:

    .page-id-395 div#apply_header_bg {
    background: url('http://sydison.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/homePageImage1.jpg');
    }

    .page-id-86 div#apply_header_bg {
    background: url('http://sydison.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/southBayBeach.jpg');
    }

    Regards,
    Ismael
