    Hi!
I am using on the frontpage a 2 column layout (33%66%); This morning I edited the text in the smaller section, and since then the slider I have in the larger section is stuck & displays only the first picture. I am using the latest versions of WP & choices; my site is harrybeine.com.
On a related note; I’ve been trying to scale the slider pictures to fill exactly a given space and not rescale the whole page from picture to picture. I’ve experimented with picture sizes a lot, different dimensions, but I have not been successful creating a fixed size. 990×400 is too narrow; 610×410 works for some pictures, but not for others… Is there a way to force a certain size?
    Thanks!

    Hi harry108!

Please try deactivating all active plugins and check if that helps.

    Cheers!

    Hey!

Please try re-updating the theme via FTP
For a quick guide on updating your theme take a look at this video on updating the theme via FTP: https://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/67209750

    Cheers!

    Thanks;

I did that, too; but again no effect. I looked into the problem some more. The first picture of the queue is skipped, the slider gets stuck on the 2nd picture (I’ve tried this w/ different jpg’s; it is independent of the picture). Also, the site is displayed correctly on an ipad w/ the slider working correctly (though starting on the 2nd picture). I’ve tried on a couple of desktops, and there the slider always gets stuck…

    thanks,
    harry

    Hey!

It seems like the html code/text contains some errors (see http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.harrybeine.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0 ) and these errors probably also affect (= break ) the slider script. Please check the text you changed in the smaller section and make sure that the html code is valid.

    Regards,
    Peter

Thank you!!! that did it! Great!

On my second question; I’ve been trying to scale the slider pictures to fill exactly a given space and not rescale the whole page from picture to picture. I’ve experimented with picture sizes a lot, different dimensions, but I have not been successful creating a fixed size. 990×400 is too narrow; 610×410 works for some pictures, but not for others… Is there a way to force a certain size?

    Hi!

The only way I know of to do that is to use the same size image for each in the slideshow which shouldn’t have any difference when moving between slides.

    Best regards,
    Devin
