I installed a couple around that time, but don't know exactly when the problem took place so I'm not sure. I just went back and deleted all but two plugins we've had the whole time, and the problem is still there.

I think the problem may be that the_excerpt() function has been adjusted to strip out any HTML / line breaks etc. One solution to this is to change the_excerpt to the_content (in index.php line 45) and use the More function to choose where your content should cut off.

I tried the the_content fix but it would show any inserted pictures before the words. The manual excerpt option worked though. I'm not sure how I stripped the line breaks, but the workaround is great. Thanks for helping me know what to look for.
