If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
– I cannot seem to create a slideshow on the main page, I played around with it for a few hours last night and was unable to achieve the slideshow above my portfolio images, as seen in your example page. I have read you telling people to create it in the custom template option on the site, but still was not able to do it. Do you need images uploaded to a portfolio to see the slideshow, is there a spot to upload images?
– Second : is there a way to create slides that are NOT images linked in the portfolio section. For example, say I want to create 5 slides with random promotions or something on them, but do not want them to link to a portfolio image, just uploading individual slides. Is this possible? If so, how would I go about doing so.
This should be all of my questions for now, I feel I can get a very good jump with this information provided.
Thank you for your help. My site is currently in maintenance mode.
I have exactly the same problem dbdesign999.I created a new dynamic template for the homepage. Added the relevant items in including a portfolio and slideshow. Everything appeared as it should, with the exception of the sideshow. I even tried to create a new page template with just a slideshow feature and that didn’t work.
It is not necessary to create a dynamic template in order to have the slideshow running in a page.
On a specific page that you created look for “Featured Media” and click”Add image to slideshow” option below the tinymce, don’t forget to click “Add to gallery” for each images that you uploaded and it should work fine. For each images there are options to link it to post, link it manually, link to page or just lightbox. You can also add captions and call to action buttons if you wanted.
I hope this gives you an idea on how to add the slideshow. :)
