Sortable portfolio is too slow

I have a problem with the portfolio 4 columns sortable. I have about 65 prpjects inside the portfolio...when i open up the portfolio site it takes very long time to show the categories (I guess its because it is loading the projects first).
Is there a possibility to speed it up or to show first the categories an then load the projects?

Hey,
as far as I know the the projects must load first because the javascript needs to initialise the item positions and the sorting values. Because of the way how the script works it's not possible at the moment. I can only recommend to create smaller portfolio pages.

Ok...too bad. I have big performance problems with my portfolio.
What do you recommend with "smaller portfolio pages"?

I'd create more portfolio pages with less items. This will help you to categorize your products and will speed up the sorting function.
