First install this great plugin to prevent spam crawlers/bots to find any email address you may have published on your website:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-mail-address-encoder/
Then as spam blocker you could use this great plugin to prevent automated comment spam and local spam, no need for crap CAPTCHA either ;)
p.s. if you gonna use this plugin other comment spam plugins will cause false positives, so it is best to disable all of them, including Akismet.

Hey!
This plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/antispam-bee/ is very popular too but I haven't tested it yet.
