They just disappeared for no reason. Each subpage is attached properly to a main navigation title. And they are set to display in the Main Menu settings. They just disappeared all of the sudden? How do I get those drop-downs of submenu items to show up?December 7, 2012 at 3:37 am #99526
Also, the main menu just disappears on this page?

Not sure why it happened and It’s really a weird issue. Anyway, try to disable all your plugins and check if the issue is resolved.

I was looking at your site yesterday and just noticed I never made the post.
You removed the second menu from the footer, right?And instead are using a menu-widget in the fourth sidebar in the footer to show the menu. However your top main navigation menu, I see in the code, for some reason is called foooter menu. Please check the location of each menu in the code and in the backend menu page.
I would check all the customizations you’ve done because I’ve never seen such an error occur naturally for no particular reason. I would check footer, header and functions.php files and as Ismael said, check the plugins. Especially that gallery plugin. Check your menu page as well to see what menu you are using for the header and what the name of the menu you are using for the footer.

The same issue has happened with my site when I was using the ‘/?post_type=tribe_events’ as the url but specifying a permalink to my events page (/events/) and using this instead, the menu is now appearing. Btw – this issue doesn’t seem to happen if you don’t specify a custom menu in the – Appearance – Menus section but as soon as you add a custom menu and assign it to the Incarnation Main Menu, it doesn’t appear when using the ‘/?post_type=tribe_events’ in the url.
Hope that helps.

Hi Mike and lachellabella,
As Nick said, I’ve not seen this issue before either. It sounds like it could be a conflict with a plugin and the way the menu gets set for page types but I’m just not sure.
Since it works when setting permalinks to page name, that adds another bit of information but at least in that respect it works.
I’ll tag this for Dude and see if he has some additional insight or has seen this before.

I could reproduce the issue and it’s probably a wordpress bug (eg the wp_get_nav_menu_item() function doesn’t return any menu items although it works on any other page). I’ll tag this thread for Kriesi – maybe he wants to include a “hack” to fix the issue. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the fix from: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -category-pages-1?replies=21#post-2417985 to work – eg replacing following code in header.php:
$args = array('theme_location'=>'avia', 'fallback_cb' => 'avia_fallback_menu');
$locations = get_nav_menu_locations();
$menuItems = wp_get_nav_menu_items( $locations[ $menulocation ] );
wp_nav_menu(array('theme_location' => $menulocation));
$backup = $wp_query;
$wp_query = NULL;
$wp_query = new WP_Query(array('post_type' => 'post'));
$wp_query = $backup;
doesn’t change anything…December 12, 2012 at 9:58 pm #99532
Please don’t think you are being ignored and forgotten. We am trying to get to the bottom of this, but usually problems like that involve something so tiny out of alignment that it takes a little bit of time to spot it. This weekend i will invest some solid time into getting you on the right track.

I just checked again and I too cant wrap my head around this problem. Are you running the latest version of wordpress? if not please update. During the next few days we will release an updated version of the theme, please also update the theme files.
Its a long shot but maybe something got corrupted during the down or upload. Can’t think of a logical reason why the menu would behave like that…
