I’d like to know:
1) Can Corona theme be managed with one of WordPress plugin like WPML or QTranslate ?
2) Which is the best solution you can suggest me ?
3) What elements can I translate (pages, articles, portfolio, everything…) ? What are limitations ?
4) Which are (if they actually are) main manual changes I’d have to apply to PHP code ?
Thank you in advance!September 26, 2011 at 5:18 pm #52803
Corona supports WPML (partitially). You can translate the frontend (what the website visitors will see) but the portfolio isn’t fully compatible yet (it doesn’t support different categories for different languages (“translated categories”)). You need to create all portfolio categories before you activate wpml and then assign all posts (i.e. german, english, etc. posts) to these categories. Posts/Pages don’t have limitations (but I can’t guarantee that everything will work – maybe some combinations of custom elements/templates won’t work).
4) No php changes are required.September 26, 2011 at 6:32 pm #52804
thanks for reply.
What about slideshow content ?!? I mean, for example, the home page main slider content: now there’s only one box for title and description for each image/video for the slider…with WPML plugin installed are boxes for several languages automatically added or what !??
I can’t have the main page in German with the Slider in English!!!!
Just for curiosity: are you planning a fully integration with WPML in next months or not ? Nothing to do with Qtranslate ?!?
Thanks again!September 27, 2011 at 5:49 am #52805
The slideshow content can/must be set for set for each post (translated version & original post). You can enter different descriptions, captions, etc. too. Just click on the “plus” or “pencil” icon to translate the homepage (you can set the statc homepage via admin panel – (Settings > Reading) or Corona Options panel).September 27, 2011 at 11:16 am #52806September 27, 2011 at 12:55 pm #52807September 27, 2011 at 1:32 pm #52808September 27, 2011 at 1:42 pm #52809
Problem is when I deactivate WPML and then add Categories in your Portfolio and then activate the plugin again the added categories are gone? Or what Im I doing wrong?October 26, 2011 at 7:46 pm #52810January 29, 2012 at 12:54 pm #52811
“Brightbox doesn’t support language specific categories too – so I assume you need to deactivate wpml, create all necessary portfolio categories and activate WPML again. All categories which were created before wpml activation can be used for all languages now…”
No.. it doesn’t work for Corona at all. When I turn off WPML and add more categories, after I turn on WPML again I don’t see it. I see only portfolio categories added when WPML was ON… Any ideas how to work around?
