Is it possible to have the tabs 'autofit' to the size of the corresponding content box below them??

No, this is not possible without a custom javascript/jquery function. The tab size depends on the length of the tab title/caption. You can calculate the tab width based on the content container width with a jquery/javascript function but it takes some time to write such a function.
