If a post has featured media attached to it, this doesn’t appear. Only the text appears when the template is previewed. Pages seem to work ok, since the images are embedded inside. Is this meant to happen, or is it a bug?September 12, 2011 at 5:45 am #51826
it’s intended to work this way because fetching all attachments, etc. would require a different template logic and more resources. I’ll report it to Kriesi as feature request though because I understand that users may want to use galleries, etc. too.September 12, 2011 at 6:52 am #51827
Great. It would save having two patch the images and texts from two different sources together, though I understand it may be complicated to add.
Thanks!September 15, 2011 at 7:08 pm #51828
not sure if I do understand correctly: you want the featured media (aka the slideshow?) at the top of your content? If thats the case you could just add another slideshow element, selecting that post…September 15, 2011 at 8:05 pm #51829
If you have a post with featured media, such a a full width image across the top, the template builder option “Post/Page Content” doesn’t show it. It only shows the text. If you want the image, you have to add it as a slide show above – as you say. But it’s two steps to do one job. It would be easier just to reproduce the whole post with it’s content. It’s not a big deal, just a pain if you don’t know how to do it.
The other thing is that the text gets cut short if it’s in a column (ie not full width). How do you stop it truncating, so you can read it all.?September 16, 2011 at 6:05 am #51830
Some users want to create pages without slideshow (i.e. like I do) but want use the featured images as preview images for the page/post. I really like the idea of seperating the slideshow element from the content element.September 16, 2011 at 7:58 am #51831
Yes I can see it could be useful. It’s just that when you start using a theme for the first time, you expect things to work in the same ways, and when they don’t it’s a headache! You could maybe change the template helper description for that option (Post/Page content) to explain that it only displays the content inside the post – not the featured media. And if you want the featured media you need to add a slideshow.
I’m sorry, I didn’t understand any of what you posted on the broadscope support page :O(
I need a fix to allow the content of a post in a Template Builder column to display entirely. Which of the things in that support question relate to that?September 17, 2011 at 7:09 pm #51832
Ok – I thought your question is related to “Broadscope” because you posted it in a “Broadscope” thread. Open up shoutboxincludeshelper-templates.php and replace:
$output.= get_the_content();February 12, 2013 at 5:37 pm #51833
I just built a custom template that has one element: “Post/Page Content” (I selected a page that has a featured image / via the slideshow). The page I selected has no parent, and uses the “Default Template”, and under layout / overwrite default Post Layout it is specified as “Use default”. There is a “Featured media” image (which doesn’t link to anything).
As has been mentioned in this thread, I think, that featured image doesn’t show up when I designate that page in the “Frontpage Settings” of the Angular Theme Options area. Is there a way around this?
If I simply designate that same page (via Angular Theme Options) to be the front page, the featured image displays fine. Love to know if there’s a fix, or if I’m doing something wrong. Thanks!February 13, 2013 at 6:37 am #51834
