    Hi, just purchased your theme.

I installed the dummy data and there is no text below the home page nav links such as ‘starting the journey’ underneath ‘home’ nav link on your demo. How to correct this?

Also, the ‘our latest work’ on the home page is acting bizarre. I’ve seen this once before with Firefox. It starts out about 15 px too high and is not inside the button box. If you keep hitting refresh it goes in and out of the box at random. Doesn’t happen on your demo but then your demo isn’t exactly like the dummy data either.

    Please help, thanks!

I just reinstalled everything and did not load the demo content…the button is still screwed up. You can see yourself here http://www.columbusohiowebdesigns.com. Check it with firefox and refresh a few times…the whole page moves up and down….this is unusable at the moment :(

    #30503

Sorry I really dont know what you mean. The page looks perfectly fine for me in firefox and I can reload as often as I want, it stays the same every time…

    hmmm…

    how bout question 1?…

“I installed the dummy data and there is no text below the home page nav links such as ‘starting the journey’ underneath ‘home’ nav link on your demo. How to correct this?”

    #30505

Okay, I just checked on 4 different computers with Firefox and they all have the same problem. Different versions of firefox also. Where should I send screenshots to? There’s definitely a problem…

    #30506

You can upload screenshots to http://imageshack.us or another image hosting service, or upload them to your own server. Just post the links to the image once they’re online.

Regarding the “Starting the journey” etc text; this is something you need to set in the Menu Manager (Appearance -> Menus) and set the text you want to display as the Description for each link.

If you’d like to display the theme as per the demo, I’d suggest removing all pages / posts / other content and re run the content importer in the Theme Options.

Here’s to hoping you can make this theme half usable since having a sidebar on the homepage is ‘custom’ work.

Again, I’ve even gone so far as to call friends with firefox installed and it happens for everyone I’ve called.

I recorded my screen so you may see the bug for yourself…

Thanks for posting your screenshot of the problem. It’s a weird bug you’ve found, more so because I can’t reproduce the error in Safari 5 (Mac), Firefox 3 (Mac and PC) or Internet Explorer 8 (PC).

Can you post the version of Firefox you are using? Try disabling all your addons, clearing the cache and restarting your browser to see if this has any effect.

    #30510

Tested on Firefox ver 3.6.8, 3.6.7, and 3.5.11. Happens on all. 3 different computers. Did you download the video?

I also created a new windows profile and new firefox profile, no plugins installed whatsoever, same deal. What now? I certainly cannot show this to a client :(

    #30511

I went to your site with FF and cannot duplicate this. I also have this theme on 2 test sites and can not duplicate it. You must have a localized problem; either with the install or your workstations. If this doesnt happen to you on the demo themeforest site; that would narrow it down to your server install.

    #30512

I appreciate you taking the time to look with your browser.

Obviously I came to the same conclusion as you since this doesn’t happen on the demo site.

But this ain’t my first rodeo, installing wordpress and uploading a theme is darn simple…exactly where would I have had to go wrong to create something silly like that? Upload wordpress, upload theme, choose theme…pretty easy.

Just for kicks, I’m reinstalling on another domain now…

    #30513

I just did a fresh install of wordpress and avisio on a different domain. I did not load any extra anything. I did not load the demo data. I simply installed wordpress and enabled the avisio theme. It’s exhibiting the same problem at http://www.columbuswebdesign.info. (I’m aware of the licensing agreement, I only put it on this domain temporarily as an example).

    #30514

    Hey!

Something must have gone wrong, I cant access the link adress. What could possibly have happened is that one of the files got somehow corrupted upon downloading/unpacking. you might want to try to download the zip file again from themeforest, unpack it and upload it to your webserver via ftp.

I agree there is not much one can do wrong doing those steps, thats why I am especially curious about your case :)

Would be glad if you drop us a notice here when http://www.columbuswebdesign.info/ is running again so I can take another look myself :)

    Best regards

    Hi Kriesi,

Well, I almost just gave up on the theme…I went ahead and put it back up to http://columbusohiowebdesigns.com/

I’ll put the video back up here as well: http://columbusohiowebdesigns.com/strangebug.avi

This is my 4th theme from themesforest so far. I’ve bought dilapidated, unite, infocus, and avisio. I consider yours one of the best. But yours is the only one I’ve had any “visual anomalies” with. I’ve reloaded on 3 domains so far, and redownloaded avisio from themesforest and wordpress itself. There’s some difference between the demo and the downloadable theme. Some difference that affects only some firefox users apparently. I’ve gone to browsershots and things look fine there as well.

I could load it on a domain at a different host but I don’t see how that could possibly affect anything.

I’m going to take a leap of faith and go ahead and start using this theme and porting over the content from another site in hopes that you, we, the community at large might figure this out…thanks.

    #30516

    Well…

Avisio works just fine on another host provider I use. So, I assume the next step is to identify the conflict between Avisio and certain php settings?

You can see my php info on the site that is affected here: http://columbusohiowebdesigns.com/test.php

You can see the site that is unaffected here and it’s php info: http://billguerin.com/test.php

The thing is…columbusohiowebdesigns.com is hosted at hostgator. I know that hostgator is ranked very well for their ease of use and support of wordpress. None of my other installtions or themes exhibit any problems with hostgator.

Is it possible that your theme calls some outdated function that isn’t friendly with the latest/greatest php versions? The site that is working (www.billguerin.com) has older version of php

    #30517

I honestly cant imagine that the server settings might cause the issue. I can only guess at this point but since its working fine with most Firefox versions I asume that it maybe is a subversion that has a problem with the rendering, or more likely maybe a plugin like addblock that for a strange reason changes the html output.

Unfortunatley I think we are at a dead end here, since neither me nor my support team were able to reproduce the bug we will need to wait for more people who got the same problem…

    #30518

Alright, thanks for looking into it. As long as you’ve seen the video I posted and don’t think I’m crazy, I guess that’s a consolation!

I’ve since spoken with a friend who is a programmer and he’s seen these ‘refresh bugs’ before.

I won’t attempt to re-explain what he told me but it was something like “…as the page is being rendered something is being cached only sometimes and hitting refresh isn’t really refreshing the whole page…or the speed at which the page loads is sometimes completing one script too soon or too late causing a display bug.”

I don’t know…it’s just frustrating…not trying to wish anyone ill but I hope someone else has this problem ;)

    #30519

You’re not crazy mate, I understand that this is a very weird and annoying issue!

    Possible fixes are:

1.) Make sure you’re using the latest version of Firefox. Download and reinstall if necessary.

2.) Disable all your add ons. If something is causing the problem from here it would explain why I can’t reproduce it.

If anyone else has the same issue, please speak up!

    Greetings All~

I must refer to the top question in this thread:

I installed the dummy data and there is no text below the home page nav links such as ‘starting the journey’ underneath ‘home’ nav link on your demo. How to correct this?</bloackquote>

    @James Morrison said:

@jamesmorrison I understand what you’re saying about setting the Menu options, but how do I get child pages to show under parent pages using the WP Menu option?

Great theme, and I finally found the right one to use for my business. Thanks.

    GENTLEMEN!

I would like to say that I figured out the WP 3.0 Menu option by watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkuHbkaieZ4&feature=related. Not that great of a video, but good enough.

To make child pages in WP 3.0 Menu options, it’s a simple drag and drop feature. Thanks dudes!

    Z
