    Hi,

    me again with some question. :D I’ve already managed to learn quite a lot to adjust the newscast theme, but there are certain things I’m not able to do. I’ll refer to my page http://www.alanis.cz/MAUDhomme and these are my questions:

    1) The category menu: is it somehow possible to adjust the code to have EXACTLY the same gaps between the menu categories? Now it is, for example, EDITORIAL(24px)MODA(50px)STYL, and I want it to be, for example, EDITORIAL(24px)MODA(24px)STYL(24px) etc… + have a border between them?

    2) Is it possible to move the search field with the social icons next to the menu?

    Thanks

    Hey,

    1.) Yes, you’d need to remove the fixed width attribute set in style.css – open it up and find this code:

    #catnav li a {
    border:medium none;
    display:block;
    float:left;
    line-height:17px;
    min-height:30px;
    outline:medium none;
    padding:13px 10px 10px 0;
    text-decoration:none;
    text-transform:uppercase;
    width:127px;
    }

    Change it to:

    #catnav li a {
    border:medium none;
    display:block;
    float:left;
    line-height:17px;
    min-height:30px;
    outline:medium none;
    padding:13px 10px 10px 10px;
    text-decoration:none;
    text-transform:uppercase;
    width:auto;
    }

    Play around with the padding / margin until you find the right balance.

    2.) This can be done by adjusting the CSS as the element already uses absolute positioning. Open up style.css and find this code:

    #headextras {
    padding:14px 14px 10px 0;
    position:absolute;
    right:20px;
    top:-6px;
    width:328px;
    z-index:10;
    }

    Change it to:

    #headextras {
    padding:14px 14px 10px 0;
    position:absolute;
    right:20px;
    top:169px;
    width:328px;
    z-index:10;
    }

    Play around with the top attribute until you get the box in the right place.

    I am having an issue with the display:block as well. It is causing spacing problem in simple forums. This is only visible by logging in so I setup a temp test account for you to check it out. I’m not sure which section of the style can be tweaked to fix this.

    u: test pw: test!

    When I switch to the default WP theme, the issue goes away.

    It appears the news theme is adding style statements to all images at display time.

    It is adding the directives: style=”opacity:1; visibility: visible; display:block”

    It appears it is the ‘display:block’ that is causing the problems, but I’m not clear on how to resolve this.

    Any ideas?
