    I would like to move the menu to the top of the page instead of being in the middle as it is right now: http://virginiagreenhomes.com

    I want to also like to have the green background that I chose, to be a border around the template, so the green will also be on the top and bottom as well as the sides. Is that possible? How would I be able to modify the template to add this?

    Lastly can I remove the ‘Home’ area below the main image slider? There is a large empty space there that makes the website feel like it goes on for an over extended period.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    To make customizations to your theme’s CSS, we recommend that you install and get to know Firebug and Google Chrome developer tools browser add-on. Firebug is a free web development tool that integrates into Firefox and Chrome browsers and assists in monitoring, debugging and editing of any website’s CSS, HTML, DOM, and JavaScript files.

    Once installed, this easy to follow video will show you the basics of Firebug – http://vimeo.com/20917974 – and get you on your way to customizing any theme.

    Have you made any changes to the template files?

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hey Nick,

    Thank you for the links, I am checking that out right now. I have not made any updates to the template files. To be perfectly honest, I am not a whiz at coding and was afraid of killing the template. Do you have any suggestions regarding code that would give me the results that I am looking for without having to learn the coding?

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

    You’ll need to add these to your custom.css located in the theme’s /css/ folder.

    To add the border:

    .boxed #wrap_all {
    margin:20px auto;
    }

    You’ll want to change the 20px to whatever height you want.

    To hide a portion of the blank white content area you’ll use this:

    #footer {
    display: none;
    }

    Now, if you ever want to include text in the footer (like in the demo) you’ll have to remove this from your custom.css as the blank white area is in fact your footer.

    Mya,

    Thank you so much! That worked great! Now as for moving the menu top the top left instead of being centered in the middle, Do you know the code that I would need for that?

    Again, thank you for that help!

    Hi Michael,

    If I’m not mistaken, you are trying to move the sidebar menu on the top. Try to add this code in your custom.css:

    #secondary {
    margin-top: -120px;
    }

    or this code, if the code above doesn’t work:

    #secondary {
    margin-top: -120px !important;
    }

    Just adjust the margin-top value. The higher the negative value, the more the menu moves on the top. Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Ismael

    Ismael,

    Thank you so much! That worked great. However, now I have a new issue. If you visit the link again: http://www.virginiagreenhomes.com you will see that when you hover the mouse over the link ‘Gallery’ the subpages are not viewable and are behind the logo instead of on top of it. Do you know how to fix this?

    Thanks for your help!

    Update: It is not the gallery link, it is the Radiant Therma link

    Hi!

    Try to add following code to css/custom.css:

    #top.left_sidebar #header {
    z-index: 2;
    }

    #top.left_sidebar .main_menu .menu ul{
    z-index: 20;
    }

    Regards,

    Peter

    Peter,

    That worked great! I am so happy with the awesome help and support I have received up here. With all the themes I have purchased over the years, I have yet to receive as much help as I have here.

    Thank You All!
