    The way themes pull in content from various pages to display on the home page is causing Page Meta Plugin to fail on the home page.

    Page Meta Plugin will allow you to enter by hand the 3 major meta tags into any page or post…what I consider the most fundamental part of good seo…hand coding each page’s tags, there’s just no better way to do it period.

    Unfortunately, It’s works on every page but the home page in this theme and in Webtreats Infocus as well. More unfortunately, the home page is the single most important page of your website.

    So, not knowing php myself, I’m assuming there’s a simple answer. Per the instructions for Page Meta, you are supposed to replace ‘<?php meta_title(); ?>’ in the header.php in your theme to ‘<?php if (function_exists(‘meta_title’)) { meta_title(); } else { wp_title(); } ?>’.

    Obviously doing this works on all page but the home page because the admin section is just pulling in the text, not the rest of the goodies from whatever page.

    So…can’t I do something like ‘if is home page then return these values for ‘title’ ‘description’ and ‘keywords’ else pay attention to the page meta plugin???

    I’m still waiting on webtreats for an answer on this as well…it’s got to be simple…

    Ok, desperation is a good thing lol. Here’s the fix for anyone wanting to do proper seo with Page Meta plugin and these themes that use admin panels for displaying home page text:

    edit your header.php file and it should look like this when you’re done:

    change to : <title><?php if (is_home()) { echo “Something”; ?><?php } elseif (is_category() || is_page() ||is_single()) { ?> <?php } ?><?php if (function_exists(‘meta_title’)) { meta_title(); } else { wp_title(); } ?></title>

    add: <meta name=”description” content=”<?php if (is_home()) { echo “something different”; ?><?php } ?>” />

    add: <meta name=”keywords” content=”<?php if (is_home()) { echo “something else different”; ?><?php } ?>” />

    Page meta plugin will then work properly on subsequent pages!
