    I can’t understand why the titles for the pages have suddenly and automatically changed to big instead of small which is specified? Any ideas? http://www.fellfromgrace.com

    thank you

    Hi Fellfromgrace,

    Have you changed any of the settings for the main theme to display big titles, added new plugins or upgraded anything recently?

    I know they are all kind of general questions but there isn’t a reason I can think of that the pages would just change their display style out of the blue.

    #66379

    Hi Devin, no, not that I can think of. No plugins added, woocommerce upgraded but that happened before the change and it was still looking ok then. I altered the background image – took out the background image itself and loaded a single slide as this seems to work better – and altered the image itself via photoshop to remove the large logo as it was always being fouled by a foreground article (sidebar, main area etc) and I decided to put a log as a pic at the top of the page within the article itself. This was a bit problematical as I couldn’t get it to centre easily and there was oodles of vertical spacing and it was during this time that the title size changed – even though I did nothing and it’s still set as small title on the page settings! So I am at a loss for this one ….

    Hiya I still have incredibly large titles on my pages and don’t know how to make them reasonably sized. please help me!

    thanks

    Hi Fellfromgrace,

    My apologies for no one responding in the pas few weeks. There was recently an update to our support system and questions were needed to be bumped once or re-posted to properly re-register with the new settings.

    I’m not sure what could have caused that to happen and continue to not take changes to the setting. It might be related to a number of bugs that were recently fixed in the 1.6 update or even a conflict with a plugin that isn’t allowing the settings for each page to properly save.

    I would suggest both updating the theme and try disabling all plugins and then reactiving them one by one to see the large vs small title setting takes effect after each plugin is enable.

    Regards,

    Devin

    ah ok, I am a bit scared about updating the theme! I’ll have a look through the forum and see how to do it …. I have tried disabling the plugins but it doesn’t seem to help. Even if the settings were large they shouldn’t be THAT large surely? is there somewhere I can change what the size actually is? I’ll try updating first and report back …

    #66383

    I have updated the theme manually and the big titles problem is still there. It still doesn’t matter whether I say Big or Small, they are still Huge!

    #66386

    Hey,

    could you guys link to the specific pages where you’ve set the smaller / bigger headlines and provide a link to where you’ve set the titles to bigger (if any). Depending on these settings we can look for a CSS solution or a theme update.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    #66387

    er you can link to ANY page on my site and see the very big titles for example http://www.fellfromgrace.com (ABOUT) and any other page from there.

    thanks

    #66388

    Hi fellfromgrace,

    Can you try disabling all plugins you have running, saving your settings for the headline sizes and testing it out. Also why we are doing support if you can keep the WP-CopyRighPro plugin disabled, its a bit of extra work to go around it continually.

    Regards,

    Devin

    #66389

    Hi Devin – sorry about the copy-right pro thing – disabled now. Am now gonna try the disabling all plugins for this and the other problems I’m having so will be back.

    #66390

    Ok. With ALL plugins disabled the titles are back to normal. However the left hand sidebar is now protruding over the main text box again – and this is in Chrome, IE and Firefox.

    #66391

    Hi!

    Try to add following code to css/custom.css:

    .sidebar1{
    left: 0 !important;
    }

    Regards,

    Peter

    #66392

    Hi Peter, thanks that has solved the left sidebar problem!

    Devin, re titles:

    I deactivated all the plugins as suggested and the titles went back to normal (small). I reactivated them all in turn, clearing the cache each time before viewing, and finally reactivated menus plus+. That seemed ok until I actually went into it and formatted a menu for the Imaginarium. Then the top menu returned and the large title.

    I deactivated the plugin but it made no difference, so I deactivated everything again. Then if I activated WooCommerce – even if it was ONLY WooCommerce that was activated and no other plugin, the menu and big title appeared again but not if WooCommerce was DEactivated. So the only thing I could do was to log out of WordPress and log in again. Then went through same whole process as before, only this time I haven’t reactivated menus plus+ and so far it seems ok

    It appears to be mainly related to having a top menu, which would be nice (but obviously I can’t have it if I want small titles) and in some way to WooCommerce as it only appeared like that once I had updated WooCommerce. Top menu would be nice- but maybe there is some way to do breadcrumbs instead as the side menu is always available.

    upgrade, my sidebar problem was just so getting to me I thought I would use firebug to see if it showed what was showing in the right sidebar (even though I know less than nothing about css). Anyway, as soon as I activated firebug and tried navigating from the weird right sidebar, the big titles problem was back. Now it works like this:

    go to http://www.fellfromgrace.com and it looks fine

    navigate anywhere (even the Home screen) using (it seems) any menu, left or right, and it doesn’t look fine. Even the Home page has got the large ABOUT and top menu. I am both stumped and totally at wits end and really really really fed up with this. It’s hopeless I have spent hours and hours on this and don’t know what to do. I have sidebars with widgets I haven’t put in there, and no widgets I have put in and the large title problem. I have spent so much time on this site/theme and it still is not right – I am very very despondent and disappointed.

    Hi!

    Try following – open up includes/loop-page.php and replace:

    $titleClass = $avia_config['layout'];

    with:

    $titleClass = '';

    This should remove the “big headlines” from standard pages.

    Regards,

    Peter

    #66395

    Thank you so much Dude this has indeed removed the big titles (just when I have spent all day looking for another theme!) Now PLEASE can someone help with the sidebar problem? I have deleted everything from the sidebars but I STILL have content in them, but not what I want … will post this in my sidebar request … this titles one can now be marked closed …

    #66396

    Ooops spoke too soon. Now I have small title on About page but large titles everywhere else. Site is a complete mess. I have gone back to the pre update files but it makes no difference – it is just horrible and waste of time and ill-afforded money :-(

    Hi,

    I’ve just read other topics by you and I’m a little confused what the remaining issue(s) is(/are).

    Regarding your titles: If you want – Please create me an admin account and send over the login information to (Email address hidden if logged out)

    In your message please refer to this topic, also please define which pages you want set to which title-size to avoid confusion.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hi Chris, I don’t have many outstanding issues at the moment, I’ve been beavering away now it’s all working again. This is actualy the only one still outstanding but I have found a partial solution today. I put this into the CSS Box:

    #top .main_menu .menu li strong:hover{color:#ff00c4 !important;

    }

    .sub_menu{

    font-size: 12px !important;

    }

    .blog-meta h1 {

    font-size: 16px !important;

    }

    h1 {

    font-size: 22px !important;

    color: #efefef !important;}

    h3 {

    font-size: 16px !important;

    color: #efefef !important;}

    h1.page-title {

    font-size: 30px !important;

    line-height: 30px !important;

    font-weight: regular !important;

    color: #efefef !important;

    }

    which I got from another solution but I couldn’t work out which bit related to which so I mucked about with it a bit. I now have a reasonable sized heading on the pages which is great but I would like it to be grey not white as the contrast is a bit high for readability if it’s white. I have also sent you some admin settings via email so you can login and have a mess around, I have a feeling I have some bits in there I don’t need:

    #top .main_menu .menu li strong:hover{color:#ff00c4 !important;

    }

    .sub_menu{

    font-size: 12px !important;

    }

    .blog-meta h1 {

    font-size: 16px !important;

    }

    h1 {

    font-size: 22px !important;

    color: #efefef !important;}

    h3 {

    font-size: 16px !important;

    color: #efefef !important;}

    h1.page-title {

    font-size: 30px !important;

    line-height: 30px !important;

    font-weight: regular !important;

    color: #efefef !important;

    }padding-top: 20px;

    }

    - can’t remember what I was trying to do with this (if anything). I have spent so much time on this in the last few days that my head is spinning and my house is uncleaned (well actually the last bit is the same as usual but I have to blame someone after al!)

    OH! Except the top menu has three items in it that are not in the sidebar menu – and ony those three items – how did that happen? I know the code above has some size change for the menus and that’s actually intentional and fine but I don’t know why the menus are different and this has been how it is since I reconstituted the site ….

    thanks

    #66399

    The h1.page-title is the one changing the color so thats correct!

    The menu items are added in as a function of the woo-commerce additions. You should be able to change them by creating a new secondary menu in your Menus manager and then assigning it to the Sub Menu drop down in the top left of that same page in the wordpress backend.
