If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
I’m having some problems with my frontpage. I created a page I wished to display as my frontpage, and then went in and changed the settings both in “Template Options” and “Reading” underneath “Settings”. But when I save the settings I end up with duplicate pages. The page I wished to display is my frontpage, but there’s also another page with the same content. Can you help me troubleshoot this?
One of the common problems with creating a Homepage “page” and setting this under Reading Settings is that is creates a duplicate page (causing problems). One option is to add a 301 (Permanent) Redirect if the page is accessed but not the homepage URL. In order to help you with this, please provide the Homepage URL and the URL which has the duplicate content.
As far as I can tell, that’s part of the problem. The URLs are the same…the URL is simply therebuildinitiative.org. this might be a simple fix, but i’ve only used the wordpress.com dashboard and not a dashboard with all the settings that are on a template like this one. Idk…:-/
you can simple exclude the “Home” page by using the menu manager under Appearance > Menus. Just create a new main menu, call it i.e. “Main” and add all pages/categories, links, etc. you like to it. If you don’t add the homepage to the menu it won’t be part of it (no duplicate)…
gotcha. i’m obviously still learning how to use all of the settings/features…thanks bro
