1. Is the theme updated and what would be the least "damaging" way for the customizations made to update it?
2. How to change font size and color of the menu in the header?
3. I didn't find "Search site" label in the .po file. Should it be there?

1) Download the new version on Themeforest and check the version.rtf, here you'll find what has been updated. Replace the updated files.
2) In minimal-skin.css you'd edit the HEX color codes of this:
.main_menu a {
color: #FF0099;
}
.main_menu a:hover {
color: #444444;
}3) In searchform.php change the value:
<input type="text" id="s" name="s" value="search site"/>
