If you have troubles since the update to WordPress 4.5 please read this post before opening a new thread.
I have upgraded from 1.0 to 1.6 directly, without passing through the versions in between them. I have copied only the files that were reported as ‘changed’ in the version 1.6 section of version.rtf.
However, I wonder if by doing this I am missing out all the changes done by previous versions on different files?
what is the best strategy with regard to upgrades?
Yes, you need to replace all files which are mentioned in the changelog. It’s not sufficient to replace the files from the latest theme update because this won’t fix all bugs/issues. Please use a ftp client software like Filezilla to replace the files and make a backup first.
