Uploading child theme – not working

Hi,
I’ve been trying to upload a child theme through FTP using different clients and it is not showing up in the WP admin themes panel. The same thing happened when I tried to upload the parent theme via FTP. It will only work uploading through the admin panel. How can I upload a child theme and do you have one already available?
