Although I choose “Two small sidebars” option in Newscast options and also choose some widgets to display on right, I can’t display anything on the right part of sidebar. Why?

    #99260

Also I can’t see the border between the left and right sidebars.

    Hi,

Please show the page , we need to see the code source to answer.

    Thanks,

    Hi Nick,

    My site ise http://iyidemokrasi.com

When I use twitter widget, I can’t place anything on right sidebar: http://imgur.com/1Fvqs (only 1 sidebar column is active)

When I did not use twitter widget, it seems like this: http://imgur.com/p5MAo (2 sidebar column as you see) , but if I take it fom far seen it becoms again 1 column: http://imgur.com/haEOv

I want, 2 columns are able to active at the same time when I use twitter widget. And at the top of left sidebar I want to place my twitter widget. Under of it and to the right sidebar the other things.

    What have I to do?

    Hi,

You have 4 errors on your site with one from that widget.

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) http://iyidemokrasi.com/wp-content/plugins/scbb/scbb.css?ver=0.1

The problem is, the second sidebar generates inside the first sidebar when that widget is present. I would consider not using it and seeing if everything starts working because I suspect its jquery has some issues

But I would fix those errors first.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

I want use the twitter widget. You said that the second sidebar genrates inside the fist sidebar when twitter widget is present. Can you fix this problem please? Also the other problems you wrote above.

    Thanks.

    Hi Sulker,

    Please let me show you..

This is the way sidebars look within the code when they are correct. Notice that they are on the same ‘level’ in the tree structure:

This is the code on your site, and you can see that the second sidebar is inside the first sidebar. It is no longer on the same level as the first sidebar, but is one level below it in the tree structure. Between them is the twitter widget.

My suggestion was for you to remove the widget and to go on from there testing the cause of this peculiar event. There are only 2 reasons why one sidebar would be inside another sidebar (a) Someone made a mistake editing your theme template and placed it there (b) A widget using jQuery used the wrong css class to modify the html. (see below about missing css classes in your website)

Your website is still throwing errors because you are missing 2 CSS files from 2 different widgets (SCBB and Dropdown Menu Widget). Please replace them since they are required for those widgets to operate correctly and could be the root cause of all the problems.

If you do not want to replace the missing css files or remove the twitter widget to see if that will fix the sidebars, you will continue to have a broken website. If removing the twitter widget fixes the sidebars but you still want to keep the widget, you can, but your website will have the look it has now.

What you need to do :

    a) Replace the two missing CSS files from widgets that are not part of the theme. (download and re-install those 2 widgets)

    b) Temporarily remove the Twitter widget to see if sidebars look normal without it.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    #99266

    Hi Nick,

I deleted SCBB and Dropdown Menu widgets. When I removed the twitter widget it looks also normal except the categories roll box. I still insist using twitter widget. I want you to tell me, for using it without problem, which changes or modifying must I do?

Also where, in which file are the codes you gave above in yellow?

Here you can see twitter widget in another theme: http://imgur.com/M8Pme It seems regular and normal. Its in the fist sidebar in the theme and nothing is iregular.

    Hi,

Your website also looks fine if one sidebar is pulled out of the other sidebar. http://i.imgur.com/16j2S.jpg

I just mapped your sidebars and you have a </div> missing at the ***end of that widget***. Please add

    </div>

***to the end of the code*** wherever you are inserting it.

So if you are inserting this

    <script src="http://widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js"></script>
<script>new TWTR.Widget({ version: 2, type: 'profile', rpp: 30, interval: 5000, width: 100, height: 285, theme: { shell: { background: '#2a4147', color: '#ffffff' }, tweets: { background: '#000000', color: '#ffffff', links: '#1affff' } }, features: { scrollbar: false, loop: true, live: true, hashtags: true, timestamp: true, avatars: false, behavior: 'default' }}).render().setUser('zihniacik').start();</script>

Just make sure you add the </div> so it looks like

    <script src="http://widgets.twimg.com/j/2/widget.js"></script>
<script>new TWTR.Widget({ version: 2, type: 'profile', rpp: 30, interval: 5000, width: 100, height: 285, theme: { shell: { background: '#2a4147', color: '#ffffff' }, tweets: { background: '#000000', color: '#ffffff', links: '#1affff' } }, features: { scrollbar: false, loop: true, live: true, hashtags: true, timestamp: true, avatars: false, behavior: 'default' }}).render().setUser('zihniacik').start();</script></div>

    Thanks,

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

When I added the codes you gave above to the twitter widget, the screen looks like this: http://imgur.com/BxaQO and this: http://imgur.com/jIyIh I mean it doesn’t work :(

And please see this: http://imgur.com/weXp3 When I take it to right sidebar, there isn’t problem.

I can send you the the php file of twitter widget if you could fix the problem and if you can give your e-mail address.

    #99269

    Hi sulker,

I don’t see any issues on your page currently. Have you changed anything or updated how you inserted the widget?

Are you still having the same issue or is it different now?

    Regards,

    Devin

    #99270

    Hi Devin,

I tried something and take screen to send you. I edited my post that you answered. Please check it again and please check my site again.

    #99271

The problem is still going on. It hasn’t fixed yet. When I take it to right sidebar, there isn’t problem: http://imgur.com/weXp3 But I want to place it to left sidebar. And this is still a problem as you see.

    #99272

I understand the issue but I just don’t see a fix for it. We are really not able to help fix third party plugins or widgets that are having conflicts with the theme files so I would suggest just using it in the right sidebar where it isn’t causing any issues.

The other option is to get in touch with the developer of it and see if they can provide any answers on what could be causing the issues.

    Regards,

    Devin

    #99273

    Hi Devin,

But in another theme, it isnt’t problem to place it in the left sidebar: http://imgur.com/M8Pme Why it is a poblem to place it in Newscast? There must be a solution, isn’t it? Th developer of it may can’t know the codes of Newscast, but you know?

And I said in my post that, I can send the php codes of that widget to you for that you may see the problem closer. So may be you can fix it.

Please, except you who one else fix it?

    #99274

In this instance, I would recommend looking into a freelance web developer if that layout and that widget is absolutely what you need.

There is something in the way the widget outputs itself that causes it not work correctly as Nick pointed out above. Looking at the source of your site it appears that the divs are not getting closed properly.

As to why its working correctly in one column and not the other, the nesting of the divs may just allow for proper closing tags in one vs the other but I really can’t say for sure without inspecting it.

We just aren’t able to debug third party plugins/widgets or scripts. If the developer won’t support it themselves, I would definitely recommend looking into some other kind of plugin as there are probably plenty that can do something similar to this one.

    Regards,

    Devin

    #99275

I am not satisfied from this answer. I said it works in another theme ( http://imgur.com/M8Pme ) without any problem or trouble, but in Newscast not. So this means the problem’s source is not the widget, it is Newscat. And Kriesi is the coder of it. So you have to fix the problem, not another one. Am I wrong? If you think I am wrong in my minings, which one is wrong, and why is it wrong.

    #99276

And please let Kriesi know the problem himself…

    #99277

I did take a look at the screenshot but as I said before I would need to inspect it live to actually see what the different would be. There could be other issues on that page below where the screenshot cuts off or it could be coded differently in that implementation. Or it could be a conflict with another plugin running on this installation that conflicts with the plugin that was not present before.

Typically, we direct issues with plugins back to the plugin author. I don’t know the name of this one or how it is even implemented other than it seems to be missing a closing div.

As Nick said above, adding a div into the output should fix it but we have no way of knowing how that is done as we didn’t write.

If you’d like to contact Kriesi on the issue you can use the contact form here: http://www.kriesi.at/contact

    Regards,

    Devin

    #99278

First of all, please be sure that there isn’t any poblem in the rest of page I give the link. It works poperly in that theme.

Can you write clearly, to where must I add the codes Nick gave above? To which part of which page? Please tell it so clearly as you are telling your grandma.

I added them at the end of twitter_pofile_widget.php which is in plugin file and as you see it didn’t work.

    #99279

We don’t know exactly where it would go as we did not write the code.

This is why I suggested contacting the plugin author or looking into a freelance developer to debug it for you.

    Regards,

    Devin

    #99280

So let me send the php file of this widget to you and have a look? I understand you are not able to change anything on it, but you can say me that where must I change as you say which changes have I to do.

    #99281

If its a single file you can put it on something like http://pastebin.com/ and we can take a look. No guarantee that we can do anything as this wasn’t written by Kriesi and the familiarity with the code and support for it is non-existent.

    #99283

    Hi Sulker,

I’m not seeing the issue looking through the plugin code but I did find a thread on the plugins wordpress site regarding others having your same issue: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/widget-causing-content-to-overflow-the-wrapper-container

It seems as though in some themes it causes the exact same issue you are having and the solution (at least in that thread) was to just use another widget.

    Regards,

    Devin
