    Hello,

We recently updated to WordPress 3.9 and are now having issues using our featured images for posts and pages. Issues include:

    1) When searching through media library from to post/page we are trying to add a featured image to, the “search” bar has disappeared.

    2) When adding a featured image to a page/post using the “from url” option, the url successfully connects and the image appears on the page as a featured image, but breaks when you press update.

It seems as though other people have been having a similar issue (http://wordpress.org/search/featured+image?forums=1 ) and a common issue is the theme compatibility.

Can you let us know if there is something we need to tweak in our coding to have the issues fixed?

    Hello,

Have you tried disabling all third-party plugins to see if it gets fixed?

    Regards,
    Josue

Hello, when we disabled the plugins, the first issue was resolved (search bar appeared once again), however pressing update once an image was selected did not work, we had the same result as when using the “from url” option.

    Hi,

Just to discard, does it happen with the default WordPress theme?

    Cheers!

    Hi Josue,

We switched to the default WordPress theme with all plugins still activated and the search bar returned and feature image successfully saved, so it appears to be something with a coding for the theme, no? we have been researching solutions, and I’m not sure if something like this needs to be implemented into our theme? ( http://wordpress.org/support/topic/updated-to-39-and-featured-image-went-away ) I didn’t see a similar instruction to adjust in the fuctions.php, however…

    Thanks for the help!
    Andy

    Hi,

Can you create an administrator account and post it here as a private reply?

    Hey!

Shoutbox will use the first slideshow image as featured image by default. If no slideshow image is set WP also won’t set a featured image. If you want to set the featured image independent from the slideshow open up wp-content/themes/shoutbox/includes/admin/compat.php and delete

    add_action('avia_meta_box_save_post','avia_backend_compatibility_featured_image',10,2);

    Cheers!
    Peter
